2018/09/25

Hon. Amb. Dr. Samuel K. Mbambo, governor of Kavango East Region;

Dear Deputy Mayor of Rundu Town;

Cde.Mushinga Shinduvi, SWAPO coordinator of Kavango East Region;

Mr. Chen Zusheng, Vice Chairman of Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Namibia and other compatriots;

Dear principals of Dr. Romanus Kampungu Secondary school, St. Boniface College and Noordgrens Secondary School;

Teachers, parents, learners and media friends:

Good morning everyone! I am very happy to attend the Chinese Ambassadors Scholarship Prize Awarding ceremony jointly organized by the three schools in Kavango East Region. I would like to extend my thanks to Hon. Amb. Dr. Samuel K. Mbambo, governor of Kavango East Region, Rundu municipal Government, and SWAPO Party for your precious assistance to this project. I also want to thank my dear Chinese business community for their active support to this ceremony.

I just rushed back to Namibia from Beijing two days ago. As soon as the plane landed, I went straight to Rundu. I would like to meet face-to-face with the young learners, award scholarships to the prize-winners and cheer for everyone personally.

“Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” was officially set up this year with an aim to encourage learners with best performance to work harder. At present, we have provided scholarships in 11 schools from 4 regions. My trip this time is to award scholarships in 7 schools in Kavango east and west regions as well as Oshikoto Region. In the near future, the scholarship will have full coverage in the 14 regions around the country.

Dear learners, you are the hope of the country and the future of the nation. You are like the rising sun in the morning, full of energy and hope. In the near future, you will become the main constructors of your motherland and take over the torch of China-Namibia friendship. I sincerely hope that you can bravely shoulder the responsibility given by the times and flare our friendship in the new era.

As we all know, knowledge can change one’s fate. There is an ancient fairy tale in China telling that an ordinary fish that jumps over the dragon gate will become a powerful dragon. It means that children from ordinary families can become the pride of the country by way of studying hard.

I learned that Dr. Romanus Kampungu Secondary school has a special unit for learners with severe learning problems and a section for the visually impaired learners. I really appreciate it. Today, I want to quote a famous saying from Li Bai, one of the greatest poets in ancient China: “I was born to win and my talent will never be wasted”. I hope that you can face the challenges bravely, cherish the opportunities to learn more skills, and become strong master of your own destiny.

Dear prize-winners, I hope you can cherish the honor and make further progress. The learners who have not won the scholarship this time, please try harder, do your best to surpass your peers and win this honor next time! I hope that all of you can redouble your efforts and have the opportunity to win Chinese government scholarship to study in China in the future, becoming goodwill ambassadors of China-Namibia friendship and building more communication channels for our two peoples.

At last, I wish every learner can realize their beautiful dreams! I wish China- Namibia friendship last forever! Thank you!
