On February 10th 2017, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China held a reception for the Chinese Agriculture Experts who had attended the South-South Cooperation project between the Namibian Government, the Chinese Government and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Charge d’affaires of Chinese embassy Mr. Li Nan, permanent secretary of Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry Mr. Percy Misika, and Dr. Babagana Ahmadu, FAO Resident Representative in Namibia, 15 Chinese Agriculture Experts and other officials attended this event.
Charge d’affaires Li appreciated the experts for their hardworking spirit at the grass-roots level with the Namibian colleagues and the successful results achieved in last two years. Li regard their devotion as important contribution to the traditional friendship and the bilateral relations between China and Namibia. He also introduced the historical connection and vigorous cooperation development of two peoples. Regarding some negative reports on the few misbehaving Chinese in Namibia, Li reiterated the strong opposition against any crimes and proposed some constructive measures for promoting the atmosphere for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
In the speech of Dr. Babagana Ahmadu, FAO Resident Representative in Namibia, he emphasized the great implication of this project and offered his congratulations for its successful conclusion. The hardworking by Chinese Experts team and its important role in improving the agricultural technological level of Namibia were applauded by Dr. Ahmadu. He hoped the project to be continued in the future to benefit more Namibian people.
Mr. Percy Misika, P.S. of of Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, extended his gratitude to Chinese government for the support and participation in this successful project. He said the excellent job of Chinese Experts had made important contribution both to Namibian Agriculture development and the bilateral cooperation under the coordination of FAO. The technologies and experiences left would improve the farming efficiency of Namibia and help support some other agriculture programs as well, he said. He emphasized that it had been proved that Chinese agriculture experts were the true friends and brothers of Namibian people.
Mr. Yu Zongyao, representative of Chinese experts thanked the great support and hospitality from the embassy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, and FAO. Some impressive stories in the implementation of this project were told by him.
