Distinguished Guests,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening!

Please allow me, on behalf of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, to welcome all of the guests to today's show. I should also say thanks to Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, for their great support to this event.

As the old Chinese saying goes, "distance cannot separate true friends who feel so close even when they are thousands of miles apart". Though China and Namibia are far away from each other, we are always good friends, brothers and partners. We believe amity between people holds the key to the sound relations between states. Today, Yunnan Culture and Art Troupe have brought Chinese people's best wishes to Namibia despite thousands of miles' distance between us. I have no doubt, that the friendship between our people will go deeper, with our growing political mutual trust, economic cooperation and cultural exchange.

Yunnan Province is located along the southwest border of China, with an area of 390,000 square kilometers and a population of 46 million. With beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, it is known as "colorful Yunnan". It's like spring all the year round in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province which has the same altitude which Windhoek. And it is known as China's "Spring City." Yunnan's tourism resources are very rich and it is expected it could receive 600 million domestic and foreign tourists in 2017. Yunnan is also a renowned habitation of minorities and there you can find 26 out of 56 ethnic groups of China. People of minorities are good at singing and dancing and a number of well-known Chinese artists are from them. World famous dancer Ms. Yang Liping is just from Xishuangbanna, the hometown of Dai Nationality. Today we have some National Class-A actors here, who have performed in more than 40 countries including United States, Britain, Germany etc. and won many awards.

Tonight Yunnan artists will bring us dances with rich national characteristics and visual impact, like "Peacock" of Dai Nationality, "Shangri-La" of Tibetan Nationality and "Fire Festival" of Yi Nationality. The dances will bring the beauty of art to us. And you will also enjoy acrobatics, which is the favorite of African friends. I believe the performance could be as charming and colorful as today's theme indicates and everyone will enjoy an unforgettable and wonderful night.

Finally, wish tonight's performance a great success!

Thank you!
