Dear teachers and learners;

Dear media friends:

Good morning!

I am very happy to be here attending the “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” Prize Awarding Ceremony held by Otjomuise Primary School in this beautiful day. On behalf of Chinese Embassy, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations on all the prize-winners here. You are from different families, backgrounds and living environments, standing out from hundreds of your fellow students, proving your great endeavor in study and outstanding performances. I hope all of you keep studying hard and striving for better achievements in the future. Meanwhile, I also wish other students could make more progress in studying and win the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship next year.

The idea to establish “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship” in Otjomuise Primary School arised from an occasion that I was invited by the Country Representative of World Food Program to inspect “Nutritious Lunch Plan” here on 22 November, 2017. I found that many students have lunch in the open air due to the lack of necessary infrastructure facilities. However, though the students were in difficult conditions, their bright smiles and optimistic attitudes impressed me a lot. I initiated to establish “Chinese Ambassador Scholarship”in Namibia and Otjomuise Primary School would be the first one to benefit. Today, I am here to honor my promise.

Actually, what the scholarship can offer is far from enough for the improvement of Otjomuise Primary school, but it conveys deep and sincere friendship and best wishes from Chinese friends. We are willing to try our best to help Namibian students in their study and encourage them to work harder, master more skills and therefore realize their dreams.

Namibia and China have always been true friends, sincere partners and close bothers. During the liberation struggle years of Namibia, China offered precious support to our Namibian friends. By now, our bilateral relations have been elevated to Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, the highest level of China’s foreign relations. In other words, it means that Namibia has become one of the best friends of China all around the world. Nowadays, China has become the second largest economy globally and scored remarkable achievements recognized worldwide. Now that since China has progressed so much, we will spare no efforts to support Namibia to board on the fast lane of development.

As a Chinese saying goes, if the youth are strong, the country will be powerful. Education carries the inspiration and prosperity of the nation. Through education can change your life and future. It is an important and noble course that will benefit the country and the peoples for generations to come. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to the hard work of Principal Mr. Awie Saal and all the faculties. I wish Otjomuise Primary School will prosper in the future. What’s more, I hope teachers and students of this school should learn more about China and China-Namibia friendship. Today, I also invite some representatives from Chinese community in Namibia. The establishment of Ambassador Scholarship is the first concrete step to support education of Namibia. In the near future, I hope to see more Chinese government, NGOs and individuals can join us together to give you more assistance on difficult programs. Dear students, please make every effort to study harder, maybe one day you could have an opportunity to work, study or travel around in China. All of you are welcome to China.

Finally, congratulations on all the prize-winners!

Thank you!
