China to further political consultations with Namibia

BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhuanet) -- China is willing to make full use of the political consultation mechanism between the two foreign ministries of China and Namibia, said Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing here Wednesday.

Li made the remarks while meeting with Namibian Foreign Minister Marco Hausiko, who is accompanying Namibian President SamNujoma on a 10-day working visit to China.

Li spoke positively of China-Namibia traditional friendship and expressed appreciation for Namibia's adherence to the one-China policy and its support for China in major international issues, such as human rights issue.

China is ready to enhance coordination and consultations with Namibia in international affairs, and hopes to work with African countries, including Namibia, for further promotion of friendly cooperation between China and African countries in light of the framework of the Sino-African cooperation forum, he said.

Hausiko expressed his appreciation over the consistent support of the Chinese government and people for Namibia's efforts to maintain independence and develop economy.

He said he hoped the two foreign ministries will continue theirefforts to promote the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

Hausiko also reiterated Namibia's adherence to the one-China policy.

He will accompany Namibian President Sam Nujoma to visit Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China and Shanghai Municipality in east China.
