China Exports Locomotives to Namibia

SHANGHAI, July 25 (Xinhuanet) -- The first batch of locomotives left for Namibia Sunday from the Zhanghuabang Port in east China'sShanghai Municipality. This is the first time China exports locomotives to Namibia, according to Zhao Xiaogang, general manager of the China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry Corporation.

The products delivered Sunday include four diesel locomotives and 30 oil tanks. Another set of diesel railroad cars will be delivered to the Namibia part by the end of this year.

With total value of 6 million US dollars, the products have been designed specially in compliance with the high temperature and environment of desert in Namibia. The power of the diesel locomotive reached 1,620 kilowatts. The designed speed was 120 kilometers per hour and the speed in reality could reach 90 kilometers per hour.
